Kia Ora, my name is Stevie.
I am 10 years old and I live in a small town of Hokitika and I go to Hokitika Primary School. I love to write stories about the places I go like Lake Paringa and Kaikoura. I love writing fictional stories because there is a lot of excitement, adventure and you can write anything. I love reading non-fiction stories because they are based on real-life things, I love adventures in true stories because I can picture the adventure in my mind. Sometimes I can read hours on end and finish a huge book in a few days. Writer's workshop is all about jots, long writes and stream-of-consciousness.
Stream-of-consciousness is all about writing down whatever is in your head and if you don’t know what to write you can write that down. Jots are meant to help you remember a story idea even if it is silly. Long writes are unfinished pieces of work that later on we work on and publish. Writers workshop is also about helping us get ready for high school because when we leave we will have to do things like writing essays and reports and a lot of things that publishing these stories will help us accomplish doing. While writing this story I learned that you can’t make your writing perfect on the first try. You have to keep editing and find ways to make the story better because no matter what there are always ways to make it perfect for you.
